Sinds 2023 vecht A.D.S.R. Medusa – de eerste dames studenten rugbyvereniging van Amsterdam – zich een weg door de stoere rugby wereld, naast Ascrum als zustervereniging. Meer dan 25 fanatieke Medusanen laten inmiddels zien waar ze toe in staat zijn, op én naast het veld. Als jonge vereniging zijn wij ontzettend enthousiast om nieuwe leden te verwelkomen die kunnen bijdragen aan Medusa – Zowel op het veld met gekke tackles, gestoorde sprints en geniale tactieken, als naast het veld met torenhoge tolerantie, humor, en bovenal GEZELLIGHEID.
Lid worden kan als je studeert aan de UvA, HvA of VU – en ook als je geen student (meer) bent, zolang je openstaat voor onze eigenzinnige, studentikoze gekkigheid. Als je bereid bent om samen het veld over te rollen, ben je welkom. Medusa speelt samen met Amstelveen in de tweede klasse – ideaal voor meiden met wat meer tijd of ervaring. Heb je juist minder tijd of ben je nog aan het opstarten? Dan kun je meedoen in de social competitie. Kortom: er is voor ieder wat wils.
Rugby lijkt misschien een enge sport, maar het is de meest respectvolle, interessante sport die er bestaat: het is absoluut voor iedereen, los van je snelheid en kracht, ervaring of lichaamstype. Ook bestaan wij uit een gezonde mix van internationals, studenten, werkenden, en mensen die hier tussenin zitten. Dit blijkt ook uit het feit dat het de snelst groeiende teamsport van Nederland is. Wil jij deel uitmaken van deze groei en samen geschiedenis schrijven? Durf dan kennis te maken met de rugbycultuur van Medusa. Kijk ons eerst diep in de ogen. Als je niet versteent na het kijken in onze ogen kun je zeker Medusa onsterfelijk maken!

Since 2023, A.D.S.R. Medusa – Amsterdam’s first women’s student rugby association – has been making her way through the tough world of rugby, alongside Ascrum as her sister association. Over 25 passionate Medusans are already showing what they’re capable of, both on and off the field. As a young club, we are incredibly excited to welcome new members who can contribute to Medusa – whether it’s on the field with crazy tackles, wild sprints, and brilliant tactics, or during the borrels with sky-high tolerance, humor, and above all, GEZELLIGHEID (a uniquely Dutch sense of coziness, fun, and togetherness).
You can become a member if you study at the UvA, HvA, or VU – and even if you’re no longer a student, as long as you’re open to our quirky, studentikoze craziness. If you’re ready to roll across the field with us, you’re welcome. Medusa plays together with Amstelveen in the second division – ideal for players with more time or experience. Do you have less time or are you just starting out? Then you can join the social league. In short: there’s something for everyone.
Rugby might seem like a scary sport, but it’s actually the most respectful and fascinating sport out there: it’s truly for everyone, regardless of your speed and strength, experience, or body type. We are also a healthy mix of internationals, students, professionals, and people somewhere in between. This is reflected in the fact that rugby is the fastest-growing team sport in the Netherlands. Do you want to be part of this growth and make history together? Then dare to get to know Medusa’s rugby culture. Look deep into our eyes. If you don’t turn to stone after looking into our eyes, you’re definitely capable of making Medusa immortal!
