Our facilities
At Ascrum, you don't just train and play anywhere. You get to play on the best rugby complex in the Netherlands, train in our very own gym, and celebrate victories (or nurse defeats) in our own clubhouse. Here is what's waiting for you.

The NRCA: home at the Dutch national stadium
Ascrum plays at the NRCA, the National Rugby Centre Amsterdam, the heart of Dutch rugby. This is the country's premier rugby stadium. It hosts all international fixtures for the Dutch national team, houses the headquarters of Rugby Nederland, and hosts the annual Ereklasse final and the internationally renowned Amsterdam Sevens. With room for 5,000 spectators, we're proud to call the national stadium our home ground.
This means that for every training session and home match, you'll be stepping onto the exact same pitch where the national team plays. An environment like that demands success, and before you know it, you'll be raising your game too.

Our own gym and S&C coach
We don't just train with the ball. On site, Ascrum has its own gym and dedicated strength & conditioning coach to make sure you're packs-stronger in the scrum and faster down the line. Even if you just want to work quietly on your fitness, you'll get all the support you need. There's no need for an expensive commercial gym around the corner, as everything is ready and waiting right where you train anyway.
Whether you arrive as a seasoned prop or have never made a tackle in your life, you'll get the guidance to help you grow stronger. It saves you a separate membership, plenty of travel time, and a whole lot of excuses.
The IJzeren Huisch
We are right at home in our 'IJzeren Huisch'. As one of the few student rugby clubs with our own clubhouse, we can keep the beer prices low and party after training or matches with the men and the women brave enough to step inside.
Having our own clubhouse means the third half doesn't get kicked out at eleven o'clock. It means the real fun only starts after the match, and that what happens in the clubhouse, stays in the clubhouse.
A word of warning
Just be careful not to fall asleep on one of our many sofas late at night, as every now and then a piece of spare furniture finds its way onto the winter bonfire. And if we fancy a barbecue in the dead of winter, we simply host it indoors. Or at least, that used to be the philosophy—and if you know where to look, you can still see the evidence on the ceiling today.
Van IJzer.
